Metro Conscience

I am just a guy who shifted from a small town to a Metro city. Well, it was my first ride in escalators and the Metro train too. From the very first ride in these metro’s, finding my way across the escalators to the metro platforms to the destinations, I needed to visit, I came to encounter a new conscience inside myself. And that was the beginning of Metro conscience, a new way to see the life. Well to say the Escalators weren’t much frightening on the very first day too, but yes the metro ride was. It was a whole new experience to me. The below are the points that I realized during the metro ride.
At the First station, from which the metro starts its journey, the people who wait the train in the pavilion are alike the athlete in a race behind the starting line. As the metro doors is opened (Well that’s the gunfire) the crowd rushes inside the coach and the competition is won by those who get the seats. And if you can get the seat for yourself, you feel the pride run through your chest. You sit there, giving your middle finger to the whole standing in the aisle or at the door. Did I miss something? Yes, you can also feel the enthusiasm inside you more than Olympic winner would feel at his achievement.
A metro station is majorly situated in the Business cities of a country. In such cities, a lot of people move in search of better education, better jobs, in a whole craving for a better lifestyle and future. So let’s come to the point I am talking. While you board the metro, you look around yourself and many times, you find peoples that are sitting few peoples away from you belongs to your city or the country (sometimes, they are a friends of your friends too.) But then you don’t feel the need to break the ice between you two people. Rather, you prefer remaining strangers. Having a word way straight to them, did I think of too far away? Cause we don’t even pass smiles to them.
Which do you think in this world is the longest time to kill, that makes you really bored? If you’re from a different city, you may have different answers. But if you belong to any of the Metro cities or you are residing there currently, then I am going to tell the answer that would pop out of every second mouth I want the answers from. The Answer is, “To wait for the next metro train to arrive in the platform, in case you reach the platform just after the doors of the train gets closed.” And to tell you fellas the reality it is actually tough to get over. Sometimes you start cursing yourself too.
What would be people’s reactions when you crack a conversation with the fellow passengers during travel by bus or the express/passengers train? Well, Most of the people feel normal at this behavior thinking that the person is just trying to be lively so that he won’t get bored during the travel. Being bored during any kind of travel due to lack of any kind of refreshment, that’s what must be called travel sickness. But if you’re in middle of a metro ride and you open yourself up and start an arose-from-nowhere conversation with a stranger in the coach, you will turn every head around you to yourself. People in metro are occupied with themselves and few of them have time for others. So your this kind of behavior can make yourself juvenile in front of them. But a person also gets Utopian-kinda feelings at that particular moment, I can bet this.
Everyone is equal in a bus ride or a train ride. Mostly the seating process in trains and buses are first come, first get basis, But is it same in respect to Metro? To second –aged people, I mean youths and adults, well it’s the same as above. But if you are a Senoir( Senior Citizen) then you are the most important person in the whole coach. I would like to use the word ‘Royale’ for the Senior Fellas. Because you already know that, how slow you board the train, maybe it’s the first station where the train starts, and how huge the crowd maybe, and how tough the competition maybe, an anonymous from the seat will rise up and offer you the seat without asking a thanks from you in return. But not always you are treated the same, cause not every day turns out sunny for every fella.
What about traveling with number of luggage bags in a Metro as traveling in bus and trains? I don’t really know, what it’s like in other countries, but in a populous country like India, that’s the worst way of traveling one can have in his life. The journey that you could complete in an hour, will take more than one and half hour, maybe even more than that. And the worst part, you will end up making meaningless efforts getting out on your station. These crowds really suck the energy out you and make you completely exhausted till you are out to your destination.
Now, I put a question in front of you? How would you describe the Metro and the Metro ride in a phrase? What about spelling out a metaphor for it too? I have got something in my mind and I want to share it with you. I would like to phrase the Metro as ‘The Elite Train’ and the Metro ride as ‘The Ride with the Elites’. This instantaneously came into my mind as I was in the metro, because what I saw everywhere were business personnel busy with themselves, avid bookworms, words in the books groping them, gamers with their PS3.
Have you ever felt as in home on a travel by any public transport? If you really want to get that feeling, i can suggest you to have a metro ride, it just feels so comfy that you feel at home. By the feeling at home the metro radiates to people, I would love to do one thing. i would name it ‘Home on Wheels’. Another reason for calling metro, a homely train is it has the facilities we have at home. I have seen people rush into metro so that they can benefit themselves with the resources, to be concise, to charge their laptops or cellphones or sometimes just to take a nap.
Now i am low with words to describe my experience in metro, but it’s not all. As soon as I get to be in my forthcoming metro ride, and if there, my conscience, sparks me with something new, I will surely let you guys know about that. Up to then, have a good life and enjoy your time in you metro rides.
Have a safe and happy metro ride throughout your lifetime.
